Man sentenced for brutal stabbing of Battle Creek gas station clerk

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Shawn Pike was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Monday for the stabbing death of Nicole Gates.

Gates, 27, was stabbed 87 times in July 2014 while working at a Citgo gas station.

Pike was found guilty of first-degree murder Feb. 5.  He admitted to police that when Gates went to call 911 at the gas station, he stabbed her to death until his knife broke.
