DETROIT, Mich. — Losing Ndamukong Suh hurts the Detroit Lions’ defense — without question.

Replacing him with a five-time All-Pro isn’t a bad way to numb the pain.

The Lions and Baltimore Ravens announced a trade Tuesday afternoon that will send Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata to Detroit in exchange for fourth and fifth-round draft picks.

Ngata, 31, will immediately replace Suh — who is expected to sign a free agent deal with the Miami Dolphins — on the Lions’ defensive line. Ngata has 445 tackles and 25.5 sacks in nine NFL seasons. He was an All-Pro selection every year from 2008-2012.

Ngata was the 12th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft after an All-American career at Oregon.
