CALEDONIA, Mich. — A community of friends and family gathered Sunday night in support of a little girl they love, who was stabbed multiple times on Saturday. Police say it was the girl’s own 15-year-old brother who stabbed her.

Police responded just after 1:15 p.m. Saturday to the 8500 block of Grainery Rd. SE. They found the girl with serious wounds, as well as her attacker; her 15-year-old brother, who was taken into custody at that time.  An Aero Med helicopter transported the girl to a nearby hospital.

Close to a hundred people showed up to celebrate and encourage the young girl on Sunday.  A large portion of the crowd wearing purple; her favorite color.

A friend at the gathering had gone to see the girl in the hospital today- she said the girl is expected to survive and that she had undergone surgery today.

After the surgery, the girl reportedly requested her cell phone so she could call her friends as soon as possible.
