Albion robbery, shooting, and chase put Albion College on lock down

ALBION, Mich. — Police have now given the all clear following an incident that happened near the campus of Albion College Thursday night.

It happened around 9:00 p.m. in the Burns Street parking lot in Albion.

Officers were told two suspects robbed a man; one was armed with a pistol and the other had a shotgun, Albion Public Safety said.

The suspects then took off in their vehicle and the victim chased them in his.

While the chase was in the 900 block of N. Ionia Street, the suspects fired at the victim.

Meanwhile, an officer trying to catch up with the vehicles collided with a K-9 unit in another cruiser at the intersection of Clerk Street and Erie Street.

Eventually, the suspects’ vehicle was found in the parking lot of the Albion College Burns Street Apartments.

The police dog tracked the suspects onto Erie Street where they were arrested between Clark Street and Mingo Street.

A third suspect was believed to have been involved, but the K-9 unit was unable to track the suspect.

Albion College was placed on lock down for a time.
