Early morning crash sends one person to the hospital and another to jail

BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Zeeland man is in critical condition after a crash early Saturday morning.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said it happened around 3:45 a.m. on 96th Avenue south of Stanton Street in Blendon Township.The  driver told police they swerved to avoid a deer and hit a culvert. The driver was not hurt. A 23-year-old man from Zeeland was pinned in the vehicle for 40 minutes and was flown to the hospital via Aeromed.

The driver was arrested for OWI, causing serious injury.
