VANCOUVER, British Columbia —  A television meteorologist has gone public with the barrage of hate mail she received after her baby bump started to show on air.

Kristi Gordon of Global BC read some of the offensive emails, tweets and Facebook posts on television as her co-hosts crumpled each of them up.

Gordon wrote:

No matter how rational or confident you are, the mean things people say can have an impact. The negative thoughts seep in when you don’t even realize it. Even a little joking comment could do some damage. Hopefully this can help us all be more aware of our impact on others.

Gordon wrote extensively about the experience on her station’s website.

You’re beautiful and the given a gift from God. People like this and their opinions don’t matter. Only you and your family. And remember to tell them the 3 F.s
    1. If your not feeding me 2. Financing me or
    3. F#@king me your opinion don’t matter. P.S sorry for the vulgar language…lol

What kind of messed up people mock and ridicule a pregnant woman!?? Unbelievable. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! There is nothing more beautiful than a pregnant woman, glowing with the new life forming inside her. To your husband: Please shower this beautiful woman with endless praises every day to counter-act that poison spewed out by these wicked and vicious people. Thanks for sharing your message. I am stunned that there are people out there who take the time to write an email and spew their ignorant hate. Stunned.

Obviously these comments are coming from some seriously flawed individuals. There simply is no other explanation: There is something wrong with them, not you. It is normal enough to “feel” fat as the baby reshapes our bodies. But we know that’s not fat, that’s a baby___one of the most beautiful, miraculous, gifts you’ll ever receive. When we put our hands on our ‘baby bump’ we feel love. We talk to it, we sing to it, we read to it. When you start to feel fat, when your movements seem impossibly awkward, just place your hands over your unborn child, close your eyes and let your heart respond to the little one within. When you open your eyes, there will be a smile on your lips___ your heart will be to full of contentment to leave room in your head for any ‘fat feelings’ and these comments from pathetic people will have vanished.
