UPDATE – Allegiant Air released a statement Wednesday evening saying the airline was successful in receiving a court order to stop the Teamsters intended strike.

The airline says in a statement it has every reason to believe the Teamsters will honor the court’s instructions, and will operate the upcoming weekend schedule as planned.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Allegiant Air pilots are planning a strike that could impact spring break travel at Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

According to Allegiant Air’s website, the strike could begin as early as April 2.

According to Reuters, the strike is the result of more than two years of unsuccessful contract talks between the pilots union and management.

Reuters reports that the strike could impact as many as 250 flights around the country Thursday.  Flights out of Gerald R. Ford International are included.

The airport issued a statement on Facebook that people traveling between April 2 and April 7 may be impacted by the strike.
