KENT COUNTY – Authorities with the Grand Rapids Fire Department say there’s no structural damage to St. Jude Church near 4 mile road and Plainfield Avenue after crews were dispatched late Thursday evening on reports coming from the roof area of the building.

Crews checked the building and found no damage, the smoke apparently coming from heat tape on a gutter that had shorted out.  Crews were able to cut off the power to the faulty heat tape to prevent further problems.
