Services announced for toddler found dead in swimming pool

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Memorial services have been set for for Calvin Kirkbride, the 22-month-old found dead in a swimming pool Friday night.

Visitations for Kirkbride will be held Tuesday, April 7th- from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the Ofield Funeral Home in Kentwood.

Family and friends remember the young boy, saying “Calvin loved to be outside and especially enjoyed soccer and the trampoline. He was a loving and fearless little boy who was always smiling. Calvin was full of energy but still loved falling asleep in his father’s arms,” in his obituary.

Grand Rapids Police told FOX 17 that the 20-month-old child was discovered missing shortly before 6 p.m. Friday and people began searching the neighborhood around the 2600 block of Moerland Drive on the city’s northwest side.  Police were called at 6:24 p.m.

At 6:55 p.m., the boy was found in a private swimming pool outside a home at 2650 Moerland.

First responders tried performing CPR but the infant boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
