ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Jim Harbaugh may be putting his faith in a Hawkeye in his first season as the head coach of the Wolverines.

Michigan football confirmed weeks of rumors by formally announcing the addition of Iowa quarterback Jake Rudock as a graduate transfer on Thursday night. He will be eligible to play immediately for the Wolverines.

Rudock went 15-10 in two seasons as the starting quarterback at Iowa, throwing for 4,819 yards with 34 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

According to a release from Michigan, Rudock will enroll in the School of Kinesiology and pursue a master’s degree in movement science. He will graduate from Iowa in May with a degree in interdepartmental studies/multidisciplinary sciences.

Rudock now joins a quarterback race that includes junior Shane Morris, redshirt freshman Wilton Speight, and true freshman Alex Malzone.

Michigan opens the 2015 season on Thursday, September 3 at Utah.
