PAW PAW, Mich. — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a driver who’s now facing second degree murder charges following a crash involving three people last September.

31-year-old Joshua Levi Adams is being held on $600,000 bond, according to a media release, after being charged with second degree murder, operating while intoxicated causing death, operating on a suspended or revoked license causing death, and for being an habitual offender.

Deputies say the charges stem from a crash on September 21 in the 47000 block of 40th Avenue in Arlington Township.  The crash happened at approximately 12:35 a.m.

Adams suffered injuries to his neck in the crash after the 2014 Hyundai Sonata he was driving left the roadway along 40th Avenue near 46th Street, hit a fence and a large tree. Deputies said Adams’ vehicle was westbound and traveling at a high rate of speed.

A 30-year-old female passenger was rushed to a hospital in critical condition with a severe head injury and other injuries. Another passenger, a 27-year-old male, sustained internal injuries and was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

Both the passengers that were hurt in the crash were from the Dowagiac area.

On September 30, 2014, the Sheriff’s Department announced the female passenger, Nora Elizabeth Moore, died from her injuries.

Adams is scheduled for another court appearance on April 22.
