KALAMAZOO COUNTY – Wednesday marks 11 years since a Kalamazoo woman’s body was found at the edge of a field in Schoolcraft Township; a homicide case that to this day remains unsolved.
The investigation started on April 22, 2004; after some water works employees placing stakes near a field in the southern portion of Kalamazoo County came across a bundle in the woods with a woman’s body inside.

The investigation would later reveal the victim of the homicide to be 39-year-old Christine Elaine Paddock, who was reporting missing to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety on September 25, 2003; according to Kalamazoo Silent Observer.
Neighbors living in the area where her body was found, East “V” Avenue near Portage Road, told investigators they’d noticed the bundle in the woods the previous fall but never checked to see what was inside.

Investigators have said evidence at the scene indicated that Paddock’s body was left in the field in Schoolcraft Township, and that the homicide had likely occurred at a different location. The evidence also suggested Paddock’s remains may have been left at the edge of the field for several months.
