KALAMAZOO – Detectives with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety have announced a second suspect will face felony weapons charges following the shooting death of a man in July 2014.

On Tuesday, detectives announced the arrest of 25-year-old Kenneth Dwayne Langston.  Langston was later arraigned on several felony charges including Open Murder, Assault with Intent to Commit Murder and Felony Firearms.

Langston was arrested on Monday following a several month-long investigation into his whereabouts.  Investigators say Langston had been moving to and from several locations in neighboring states and cities to avoid capture the last 9 months.

KDPS Detectives teamed resources with the Michigan State Police Fugitive Team to arrest Langston as he was going into a relative’s home in Benton Harbor on Monday.  Langston was arrested without incident.

On Wednesday, detectives announced a two count warrant was obtained for a second suspect in the July 2014 murder.  That suspect, a 27-year-old from Kalamazoo, is currently in custody on an unrelated charge in Jackson, Michigan.

The second suspect was identified Wednesday evening as 27-year-old Reginald Ernest Calvin.  His online record with the Michigan Department of Corrections shows he’s currently serving time for prior convictions of Armed Robbery and Felony Firearms.

In a release, detectives say they will “continue to aggressively investigate the crime to rid the streets of violent offenders.”

Both Langston and Calvin are facing charges in connection to the shooting death of 30-year-old Orlando David Walker.

Walker was pronounced dead at Bronson Hospital on July 6, 2014 shortly after arriving to the hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his chest.

The initial shooting happened at approximately 8:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Church Street in Kalamazoo, where responding officers also located a second victim suffering a gunshot wound to his leg.  That victim was treated and later released from the hospital.
