GRAND RAPIDS – Investigators with the Grand Rapids Police Department are seeking tips from the public, trying to locate a 28-year-old man who’s wanted in connection to a stabbing that happened on the city’s northwest side on Saturday.

Dominic Nathaniel Alexander is wanted on an Assault with Intent to Murder warrant following a fight that led to a stabbing near Leonard Street and Ionia Avenue early Saturday morning.

Witnesses at the scene who spoke with FOX 17 identified the victim as 24-year-old Justin Woods, who police say was treated and released after suffering stab wounds to his upper body.  Police found Woods in an alley near the intersection around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators told FOX 17 the day of the incident they were investigating reports of a fight that had occurred prior to the stabbing which involved a woman being punched in the face.

The same day as those initial reports, investigators also received information that the suspect involved in the stabbing may have been hiding in a nearby apartment, which led to a response from the Grand Rapids Special Response Team.

Leonard St. was shut down between Division and Monroe for several hours while officials investigated.

Alexander was identified as a suspect in the stabbing on Thursday.  He's 5'10", 150 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.  Online records show a past arrest in October 2014 for obstructing police.

Police say Alexander should be considered armed and dangerous.  If you see him, don't approach him and call 911 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
