IONIA COUNTY – The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office is awaiting autopsy, computer forensic and other forensic lab results to help determine what led up to the death of a couple found in the back yard of a home on Kingston Road on Monday.

The deaths of Harry Emerson Towner, 58, and Deborah Kay Towner, 57, are being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, Ionia County officials tell FOX 17.

Deputies responded to the home at approximately 6:15 p.m. after an open 911 call was made from the residence.

Deputies say the investigation is in its early stages, but evidence found at the scene does not indicate a third party was involved in the deaths, and there’s no reason to believe there is any threat to the public.

Anyone with information they believe would benefit the ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office at 616-527-5737.
