Developmental center evacuated following bomb threat

EMMETT TOWNSHIP – A developmental center operated by the Calhoun Intermediate School District which provides educational services for students with moderate to severe impairments was evacuated Tuesday afternoon following a bomb threat.

Investigators say student and staff were removed from the Doris Claussen Developmental Center were moved to Dexter Lake Church on E. Michigan Avenue near 10 Mile Road as a precaution following the phoned in threat.

Investigators said in an advisory issued Tuesday all students are safe and may be picked up at the Dexter Lake Church location.

Both police and fire crews are at the developmental center to investigate.  As of this writing, nothing has been located that would cause any danger.

The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the source of the threat.
