Ellen Albertini Dow, the rapping granny from ‘The Wedding Singer, dead at 101

Ellen Albertini Dow, the actress best known for rapping “Rapper’s Delight” in the 1998 film The Wedding Singer, died on Monday at 101.

Dow’s agent confirmed the news to Deadline late Monday.

Dow, a native of Pennsylvania, started acting on-screen in the 1980s. Her film credits include the Sister Act films, My Blue Heaven and she also playedGrandma Cleary in Wedding Crashers. She also appeared on several television shows including The Golden Girls, The Wonder Years, Seinfeld, Murphy Brown and others.

Dow most recently appeared on New Girl and Family Guy in 2013.

Dow’s version of “Rapper’s Delight” was featured on the double platinum soundtrack to The Wedding Singer.
