Finally…80 degree temperatures!

West Michigan – It’s been a long time since we have officially hit 80 degrees in Grand Rapids.  Checking the records at the Gerald R. Ford Airport shows September 5, 2014 was the last time we were at or above 80 degrees, when we hit 84 degrees.

That is about to change as the upper air pattern shows a large ridge building over the Great Lakes. The ridge means the air is allowed to sink and warm, and we typically have temperatures well above average.

The Future Track computer model forecast shows high  temperatures on Wednesday in the mid-upper 70’s, cooler right at the lakeshore.

Even warmer air is expected on Thursday with most of West Michigan reaching the lower 80’s, except  right at the lakeshore. The warm air will continue on Friday, before a slight cooling trend into the weekend.
