SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich.–A 17-year-old was arrested after officials said they found him driving a stolen lawn mower early Saturday morning.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to Oliverda Rd. just after 6 a.m. for an attempted vehicle theft. However, deputies ended up finding the vehicle in a nearby field.

Officials used K9 units to track any possible suspects, and later found a barn broken into and another vehicle stolen.  After searching the area, deputies said they found a 17-year-old suspect driving a stolen lawn mower on V Drive in Calhoun County. Apparently, it had been stolen on Short Rd. in St. Joseph County.

Deputies found the stolen vehicle near where the lawn mower had been stolen. Michigan State Police then came and arrested the 17-year-old for drug charges.

The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the thefts in Branch County, while MSP investigate the crimes that happened in St. Joseph county.
