GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Wednesday, David Dugas was charged  with involuntary manslaughter following the 2014 death of a homeless man  at a Grand Rapids park.

The Kent County Prosecutor’s Office confirms to FOX 17 that Dugas, 28, moved to New York state right after speaking with detectives about the death of Joseph Chenier, 56. Officials said Dugas was accused of lying about knowing the whereabouts of a witness involved in the homicide case.

Chenier, a homeless man, was found dead at a park between Ann Street and U.S. 131 on Sept. 25, 2014.  Officials said the man died of head trauma.

Dugas’ bond was set a $200,000 and a probable cause hearing was set for Friday.
