Big 1st inning too much for Vicksburg to overcome in state semifinal

EAST LANSING, Mich -- Orchard Lake St. Mary's scored 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to beat Vicksburg, 9-1, in a division 2 baseball state semifinal at McLane Stadium Friday.

Conner Henderson tripled to lead off the 4th inning for the Bulldogs and scored the teams only run on a ground out by Trace Slancik.

Brenden Lovell started for Vicksburg and allowed 8 runs, just 4 earned and struck out 2 in 3 innings.  P.J. Callahan threw the final 3 innings allowing just 1 unearned run.

Vicksburg finishes the season at 27-8.
