Dispatch: Escaped Ionia Co. emu found, put down

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — An emu reported missing earlier this week by Ionia County dispatch was found “on the property where he escaped” and has been put down.

“RIP to the most popular bird who ever existed in Ionia county,” the dispatch’s Facebook page said.

According to the dispatch, it was the owner’s decision to have the bird put down.  No other details were released.

It was reported missing June 14 from the 1000 block of E. Peck Lake.
