GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Grand Rapids building on the National Register of Historic Places has a new owner.

401 Hall Street SW, the Metal Office Furniture Company Plant No. 2 and 3, has been purchased for $5.3 million by Leestma Management, from GRL Properties.  The plant was built in 1909 and was a precursor to Steelcase.  The building is 190,000 square feet and four stories tall and currently houses a banquet venue and reception hall, the GR Makers machine shop, and various other offices and warehouses.

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Leestma says they are in negotiations with potential clients to fill much of the vacant space in the building.
