United still hasn’t found Hastings woman’s luggage

HASTINGS, Mich. -- A West Michigan woman is still wondering where her luggage went.

To this day it's never showed up.

More than a week after Lizz Timmer from Hastings traveled with an 11-month-old to visit a sick relative in Santa Fe, N.M., her luggage is still missing.

She said she's been getting the run-around from United Airlines. Not one person is able to tell her where her bag is. She said she's frustrated with their "lack of concern."

Timmer called the FOX 17 NEWS Problem Solvers for help and Cassandra Arsenault has gotten some answers for her.

She got word that her grandfather was sick so she booked a $650 flight to Santa Fe to see him for four days with her infant son. As if she didn't have enough to worry about, when she landed she got the news no traveler wants to hear...

Her bag never left Grand Rapids.

United officials told her it would arrive in Santa Fe the next day and they would ship it to where she was staying. But it never came.

So a week and nearly $300 later, now back in Grand Rapids, Timmer is still without her luggage.

In addition, United told Timmer she wouldn't be reimbursed for her baggage fee or for everything she had purchased that was in her bag.

So FOX 17 NEWS' Problem Solvers reached out to United. They said they make sure that 99 percent of bags arrive with their owners and that they were working with a team in Houston to locate and return Timmer's bag.

Shortly after our call to United, Timmer received a call from one of United's executives promising to reimburse her for all the money she spent replacing her items. Meanwhile the search still continues for her bag.
