CLARKSVILLE, Mich. — Police say the driver of a minivan is lucky to be alive, after colliding with a train in Ionia County early Monday morning.

The crash happened on Darby Road just north of Peddler Lake in Clarksville.  Police say the man behind the wheel failed to stop at the railroad crossing, where the train was already passing by.  According to police, there is no crossing arm at that particular crossing due to the fact that there is very little traffic on the rural road.

The driver was issued a traffic citation as a result of the crash.  There was only minor damage done to the train.  No serious injuries were reported.
