GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There were some scary moments for a  few dozen people on a flight from Denver to Traverse City early Wednesday when their passenger jet was forced to make an emergency landing at Ford International Airport.

The small regional jet of United Airlines Flight 2910 wasn’t far from its destination when it suddenly made a detour to Grand Rapids around 2:00 a.m. local time Wednesday.

Officials at Ford International said early indications are that the issue was a problem with the wing flaps as the plane was beginning to make its descent to Traverse City.

Once the crew decided to land in Grand Rapids as a precaution, airport responders and the Kent County Sheriff’s Department got ready for an emergency scenario.

Fortunately, the plane landed without a problem, and no one was hurt.

United Airlines is making arrangements for the stranded passengers in the form of buses and taxi vouchers.
