ROCKFORD, Mich --  The top kicker in the country in the class of 2016, Quinn Nordin of Rockford, verbally committed to play football at Penn State Friday morning at Ted Carlson Memorial Stadium.

Nordin could have went almost anywhere in the country, but said it was down to Penn State and Michigan.  "Penn State is a great fit for me and my family, I feel the coaching staff is phenomenal the academics are off the charts, I'm blessed to have all these great opportunities but playing football for the University of Penn State is what is right for me."

Blake Gillikin, a punter from Georgia recently committed to Penn State as well and Nordin is excited to play along side him.  "I'm a really good friend of his and we have been talking and talking to all the guys at Penn State, it's been the easiest decision for me obviously getting recruited by other schools was hard but Blake going there and everything it was something that would work for me."

Nordin also had 13 division one scholarship offers to play lacrosse, but said he has known for awhile he wanted to play football at the next level.  "My sophomore season the first game of the season I went three for three on field goals and I kind of decided that is what I wanted to do."

Nordin says he wants to major in business and minor in sports management at Penn State.
