Debris fire off Alpine Ave. NW in Grand Rapids shuts down street

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A stretch of Alpine Ave. NW  was shut down near Richmond St. in Grand Rapids Sunday afternoon as crews battled a debris fire near a business.

The fire at Courtade Demolition, 1750 Alpine NW, near Richmond St., was called in around 4 p.m. The location is not far from where the Pitsch Companies maintenance building burned earlier this month.

Police shut down Alpine Ave. at Ann Street to the south, and Richmond Street to the north while firefighters worked to knock down the fire.

Smoke could be seen rising into the air on the FOX 17 tower cam.

Fire officials told FOX 17 there were no injuries and damage was minimal. As for the legality of the debris pile behind, fire officials said that will be factored into their investigation in the days to come.
