GRANDVILLE, Mich.– Saturday, July 25 marked the 27th anniversary of the Brian Bush fundraising efforts for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The annual event occurs the last weekend in July at Loeschner’s Village Green Putt Putt in Grandville.
Several sponsors come together each year to raise money and donate items to make the event successful. It’s always done in memory of Brian Bush, a young boy who was a patient at St. Jude from September 1988 to April 1989 when he died of pneumonia going through a bone marrow transplant. His parents, Michael and Marge Bush started the fundraising efforts to help raise money for the St. Jude hospital after receiving treatment for their son Brian.
For the last seven consecutive years the Brian Bush Memorial Putt-for-Life tournament raised $30,000 (each year). In the last 26 years the Brian Bush Memorial Putt-For-Life has raised $584,200 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to fight cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
The first year raising money for St. Jude they had only 50 participants. That number has climbed to between 350 to 450 people of all ages playing miniature golf to raise money to fight cancer. I’ve attended this wonderful event the last three or four years and am amazed at the way people from all walks of life and come together to give their time and talent.
If you missed it this year, make sure put in on the calendar for 2016. Bring the family, enjoy the food, raffles, and camaraderie, or sponsor a hole! Click here for more information.
