GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich.  -- Approximately 1,566 pounds of blueberries were stolen from a Geneva Township farm.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department, the berries were stolen from the 61000 block of 16th Avenue some time Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Investigators say 87 lugs of blueberries worth roughly $2,700 were stolen.  The lugs are green and read "Michigan Blueberry Growers Association" with a blueberry symbol.

The property owners closed their storage facility at roughly 6 p.m. Tuesday evening and when they returned Wednesday morning they discovered the berries were gone, according to a release.    There were no signs of forced entry, officials said.

The suspects are believed to have loaded the berries on a pick-up truck or trailer, a release says.  No description of the suspects was provided.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office at 269-657-3101.
