LANSING, Mich. – Environmental activists rallied at the state capitol Thursday against an Enbridge pipeline known as “Line 5.”

“Line 5” carries oil and natural gas from Canada beneath the Straits of Mackinac and through Michigan.  The pipeline is 62 years old and the activists say that it is aging and they don’t trust Enbridge to replace it.

An Enbridge pipeline broke in 2010, creating the largest inland oil spill in U.S. history in the Kalamazoo River.

The activists are urging Gov. Rick Snyder and Attorney General Bill Schuette to decommission “Line 5” and oppose a plan to replace it.
