IONIA, Mich. — A corrections officer was knocked unconscious by an inmate Thursday at the Michigan Reformatory, 1342 W. Main Street.
According to Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Chris Gautz, the inmate hit the officer in the head with a padlock at roughly 9:30 a.m. The incident happened in the prison’s Level 4 housing area.
Gautz said the officer was alert and conscious before being transported to the hospital.
The inmate has been placed in isolation and may face charges pending a Michigan State Police investigation, Gautz said.
