Teen sentenced to life in prison for 2014 murder

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A Kalamazoo teen will spend the rest of his life in prison for his part in the murder of another teen in 2014.

Victor Garay was 15 when he was charged with murdering 13-year-old Michael Day on Memorial Day in 2014.  Garay was sentenced Thursday after being convicted of Open Murder, Conspiracy, and Firearms violations.

Rashad Perez, 18, and 23-year-old Octavius Snell were also charged with open murder, felony firearm and conspiracy to commit murder.  Perez was sentenced in November to three to six years in prison for 2nd degree murder and two years for felony firearm.  Snell was sentenced in November as well to three to ten years in prison for weapons possession by a felon and two years for felony firearm.
