BRIGHTON, Mich. – One of Michigan’s Congressional races just got a little more star-studded.

Actress Melissa Gilbert, best known for being a child actress on Little House on the Prairie in 1974, and was also on Dancing with the Stars in 2005, announced her candidacy for Michigan’s 8th District online Monday.

Her website and Facebook page are active with her opening statements.

The Michigan Republican Party issued a quick statement with a link to a Detroit News article about Gilbert being investigated for being behind on her federal taxes.

Her mental health history alone should preclude her from being eligible, not to mention her tax situation.
Typical Michigander though, you have to give her credit for how quickly she adapted her lifestyle to fit in after moving here. Can’t afford to pay her taxes, but got herself some elective cosmetic surgery, got her dog a stylist…probably is on disability, too.

Are you from Michigan? Do you know what a typical Michigander is really like. Melissa Gilbert was born and raised in California and moved to Michigan- we did not invite her here.

Somebody else thinking they’re going to civilize Michigan and bring it out of the dark ages. Well we like ourselves the way we are, toothsucking hicks that we may be. We like ourselves that way and we’re proud to be hicks. Don’t need no fancy educatin and good roads. We’re happy being left alone in the sticks.
