Time is running out to donate during Stuff the Bus campaign

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- As the end of summer vacation and start of a new school year draw near, the annual Stuff the Bus campaign is back.

It's a collection of elementary school supplies for the Heart of West Michigan United WaySchools of Hope Reading Program. Donations are distributed to the Schools of Hope school sites within Grand Rapids Public Schools. Here is a list of suggested supplies.

You can drop of supplies August 17th at BioLife Plasma Services Grand Rapids/Kentwood, located at 3886 Broadmoor Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512, BioLife Plasma Services Walker, located at 540 Center Dr. Walker, MI 49544, or BioLife Plasma Services Grandville, located at 6331 Kenowa Ave SW, Grandville, MI 49418.

The Walker and East Beltline locations are open from 6 am – 7 pm and the Grandville location is open 11 am – 7 pm.

The donations will be picked up August 18th.  Last year, the program collected over 12,000 school supplies valued at $15,293.

The Schools of Hope program pairs volunteer reading tutors with students in grades 1-3 who are slightly behind in reading. These volunteers work 1:1 with the same student once per week for 30 minutes during the school day.  There is always a need for volunteers.
