Hurricane may impact U.S. by late in the weekend

Tropical Storm Erika

Southeast U.S.  – Tropical Storm Erika now located in  the central Atlantic may impact Florida by late in the weekend. Late Wednesday afternoon the storm was located around 200 miles east of Antigua. Sustained winds were around 45 mph and Erika was moving west-northwest at 17 mph.


Erika forecast Friday

Tropical Storm Erika is forecast to track north of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic by Friday afternoon. Winds will remain between 40-50 mph.



Erika will remain a tropical storm by Saturday afternoon passing south of The Bahamas.



Erika is forecast to intensify early Sunday and reach hurricane strength of 75 mph. The current forecast brings Erika onshore along the east coast of Florida by sometime on Monday.
