GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Kentwood pharmacy CEO will spend the next decade in prison. Duron Mulder, 56, formally of East Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty Thursday to health care fraud in a case that dates back to 2010. Authorities also found the company committed fraud as far back as 2006.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice and U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles, a total of 18 employees from the pharmacy were convicted as a result of unlawful practices, including felony convictions for six pharmacists. Mulder’s  sentencing is the latest development in this case.

The federal investigation found the company wrongfully billed Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and other private insurance entities.

Officials also said drugs returned to the pharmacy were improperly labeled and stocked. It was found pharmacy vice president Richard Clarke sold drugs like Oxicontin and Vicodin on the street in northern Michigan.

Mulder was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by a supervised release, and he was ordered to pay $8,000,000 in restitution.
