Two people dead after car crashes into guard rail in South Haven

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich.– Two people are dead and several others injured after a car left the highway and struck a guard rail in Van Buren County.

The driver, Lydia McIntosh, 20, died at the scene. Passenger Raven Spencer, 19, passed away at South Haven Hospital. Both were from Benton Harbor.

Police say the crash happened just before 5 AM Saturday morning on Interstate 196 south of the M-140 exit in South Haven Township.

Three others in the car Рall from Benton Harbor Рare currently being treated for injuries. Kiana Morrison, 20, and Anacia Jackson, 19  were airlifted to Kalamazoo. The fifth passenger, Stanesha Perry, 20, was treated and released from Bronson Hospital.

The accident is under investigation by the South Haven Police Department and a reconstruction expert from the Michigan State Police.
