BANGOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 42-year-old man is facing a drunk driving charge after allegedly crashing his vehicle and then driving away.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 31000 block of County Road 681.

Officials were able to find the man’s vehicle because his license plate was left behind at the crash scene, according to a release.  The car was found behind a home in the 22000 block of CR 681.

The man was later found in the Hartford area, and officials say he was still visibly intoxicated.  He suffered minor injuries in the crash, the sheriff’s department said in a release.

The man was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a personal injury traffic crash, operating a motor vehicle without security and a probation violation.  He will be identified pending formal arraignment.
