OSHTEMO, TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person received minor injuries following a fire at an apartment building Thursday evening.

Fire crews were called out to the 2300 block of Quail Run around 7:10 p.m.

The Oshetmo Township Fire Department confirms to FOX 17, flames were shooting 20  feet in the air from the roof. Many senior citizens reside in that portion of the complex and no children were there at the time.

Two fire hydrants near the scene did not work, so crews were delayed in fighting the fire for about 10 minutes.  Officials said firefighters had to lay hoses some 600 to 700 feet to tap hydrants further away.

A cause has yet to be determined.
