LAPEER, Mich. — It appears former State Representative Todd Courser plans to run for the seat he resigned from one week ago in the Michigan House.

Courser resigned from his seat representing the Lapeer area last week after a scandal involving his affair with fellow Representative Cindy Gamrat of Plainwell and the ensuing cover up.  After about a month of hearings and  press conferences, Courser resigned his seat and Gamrat was expelled.

In an interview on CNN Friday, Courser said he would run again for his seat in a special election.  The primary for the special election is in November and the deadline to enter the race is Sept. 18.

In a tweet, Courser said: "My wife said 'yes run!'"

Gamrat announced Thursday that she would again run for her seat and has since filed her application.
