Bicyclist killed in Calhoun County crash was a doctor

PENNIFIELD, TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The bicyclist who died in a crash Friday afternoon has been identified.

Dr. Gregory Daniel Harrington III, 55, died after being struck by a vehicle while biking down M-78. He died at the scene from his injuries.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. on M-78 near 10 1/2 Mile Road in Pennfield Township.

Harrington, of Battle Creek, was the medical director of the Calhoun County Health Department.  He was also on staff of Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek.

The crash remains under investigation.
