NFL on TV: What to do without the Lions on Sunday afternoon

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – This weekend’s NFL TV schedule in West Michigan takes on a little bit of a different look…and throws a different wrinkle into the rules.

Since the Detroit Lions play on Sunday night, the distribution of games between FOX and CBS is much more regionally focused.  CBS has the doubleheader this week, with West Michigan getting San Diego at Minnesota at 1:00pm and the Chicago Bears at Seattle at 4:00pm.  FOX 17 gets just a 1:00pm game, with the lead FOX broadcast team of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling the Atlanta at Dallas game. But here is this week’s wrinkle.

Normally, the FOX games are games where the visiting team is from the NFC and the CBS games are where the visiting team is from the AFC.  But since CBS has the doubleheader and would only have one option late, Buffalo at Miami at 4:00pm, the NFL moved the Bears and Seahawks to CBS.  The only late game on FOX, which we can’t see, is San Francisco at Arizona.  The markets that get that game, don’t get a FOX 1:00pm game…and they have to listen to Tony Siragusa.

Lions Game Day will still air at 11:00am Sunday morning, followed by the NFL on FOX at Noon.
