MANLIUS TWP., Mich. – A school teacher was violently pulled from her own car and assaulted right outside her home Tuesday morning, detectives are now asking for assistance in finding the suspect.

Allegan County’s Undersheriff, Frank Baker, said the assault happened around 6:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of 136th Avenue. We spoke with the victim but she was not ready to go on camera; she did say once the attacker touched her inappropriately, she knew the fight was on.

Deputies say the 25-year-old woman got into her car in her garage to go to work, when the suspect opened her door and dragged her out of the car.  The woman was able to fight the man off and he ran behind another building on the property.

“We really don't know what his motivation was, he's not known to the victim so we don't know what his intent exactly was,” said Undersheriff Baker. “We do know that he was very violent and had pulled her out of the car, but to what extent or what his plan was, we really can't say at this point.”

Nearby Hamilton Public Schools were put on lockdown while deputies searched for the man. They say the suspect may have parked behind the building and drove off.  He is described as a dark-skinned man with a stocky build.  The woman did receive minor injuries.

"This isn't something that happens every day: its rare and we're just trying to find out what the motivation was for her being targeted, whether it was purely random, or if she was known to the suspect."
