PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — As the search for two missing men in Lake Michigan continued, investigators Wednesday afternoon cleared an area of water search teams thought maybe would lead to some answers.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office told FOX 17 NEWS that during the afternoon a robotic camera located an object in the water 138 feet down. But the object was determined to be a formation of rocks.

The robotic camera was unable to find anything else that may lead to any sign of the missing boaters. Officials made the verification after a volunteers first located the object over the weekend.

Chris Thode, 25, and Aaron Juarez, 40, of Wyoming were last heard from on Sept. 25  when they left for a fishing trip.  It is believed that they launched from Port Sheldon into Pigeon Lake, which connects to Lake Michigan. The two left aboard a 16-foot white and blue boat. The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for the men on Oct. 1.
