GM discourages use of windshield wipers in SUV recall

DETROIT — General Motors issued a recall for certain models of SUVs because the windshield wiper motors might overheat. Due to the risk of fire, the company advises owners to avoid using the wipers until they are replaced.

The recall, number 15780, began on September 30, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall web site, and it applies to 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave SUVs manufactured between August 18 and September 24, 2015.

Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020, Buick customer service at 800-521-7300, and GMC customer service at 800-462-8782.
