Driver arrested for transporting marijuana and meth components

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A traffic stop led to Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies arresting a man for having a variety of drugs in his car.

Police say Saturday morning around 10:45, a 33-year-old man from Battle Creek was stopped for a traffic violation in the area of Wagner Drive near Roosevelt Avenue.

The driver was arrested there for the traffic offense. The arresting officer then conducted an investigation of the car and discovered that the registration plate was altered and that the driver had marijuana in the passenger compartment. Upon further look, the deputy found more marijuana in the back of the car and components used for manufacturing methamphetamine.

The man was taken to Calhoun County Jail for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine components, having an altered registration, and driving while license suspended 2nd offense.

The name of the man is being withheld pending arraignment.
