Jenison teen wants Ellen Degeneres to help spread awareness of disease

JENISON, Mich.-- A West Michigan teen with a rare disease is hoping to spread awareness of it by getting talk show host, Ellen Degeneres' attention.

Kate Veldink, who was recently voted Homecoming Queen at Jenison Public School, has Ataxia Telangiectasia, a rare inherited disorder that affects the nervous system, immune system, and other body systems.

Kate's friend's have started the Twitter campaign in hopes to boosting her visibility. It's #KateVeldinkOnEllen.
