GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Gerald R. Ford Museum is marking a milestone Monday and then closing for several months while undergoing renovations.

The final beam of the new DeVos Learning Center will be placed Monday afternoon at about 4:15pm.  The new learning center will be able to hold full classrooms of students to study history and civics at the museum.  The 8,000 square foot center will be complete next fall.

The museum will be closed until next summer, while the renovations take place and new permanent interactive exhibits are installed.

Steve Ford, son of President Gerald Ford and first lady Betty Ford, will be at the topping off ceremony Monday, as will Rich and Doug DeVos, and other dignataries.
