LANSING, Mich. – A new report from the State Police shows just how bad the problem of meth is in Michigan.

MSP is required to provide reports to the state legislature about meth production in Michigan.

A large concentration of meth labs and meth-related incidents take place in southwest Michigan counties.  In September, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department issued a warning to hunters about watching for meth waste.

According to the report, there were 494 meth labs seized in 2014 in Michigan.  That was increase of 143 from 2013.  There were also more than 800 meth dump sites and equipment seizures in 2014, an increase from the year before.

Police say that the majority of labs busted in 2014 used the “one-pot” method for personal use and were not sophisticated labs for mass distribution.

The report also says data is still being collected on whether or not a state ban on the over-the-counter sale of pseudoephedrine products that was passed in 2011 is having any effect on the state’s meth problem.
